Bull City Summit (BCS) returns to Durham this September 18-24, bringing together innovation in music, arts, science, and technology. Following a successful 2022 pilot event, BCS promises an exciting week of panels, presentations, and performances.
Experience Durham’s Creative Hub
BCS Director of Communications Cait Brauner highlights Durham’s unique blend of creativity: “This city thrives on music and arts while also boasting one of the fastest-growing tech communities. BCS will showcase these elements with exciting presentations, live performances, art exhibitions, and more.”
Brauner adds, “Our goal is to support the community and grow alongside the area’s expanding trajectory.”
Top Keynote Speakers: Music and Cryptocurrency
Interested in both cryptocurrency and music? BCS has renowned keynote speakers like Harvey Mason Jr., President and CEO of The Recording Academy, and Mark Yusko, CEO and CIO of Morgan Creek Capital Management. Mason will discuss AI’s impact on the music industry, while Yusko will delve into blockchain, Web3, and what he calls an imminent “new crypto bull market.”
Yusko shares his excitement: “The eclectic mix of speakers is fascinating. The event covers diverse areas from music and culture to politics, enhancing community strength.”
Additional Insights and Panels
GrepBeat Managing Editor Pete McEntegart will chat with Nihal Mehta, Founding General Partner of Eniac Ventures, about the future of ethics in AI.
The summit will also feature discussions on electronic music, the intersection of music and entrepreneurship, the metaverse, and cannabis. Arts programming will address topics like the impact of art on behavioral growth, visual arts entrepreneurship, LGBTQ+ and gender equality, and climate change.
Durham’s Dynamic Scene
Parag Bhandari, Founder and Executive Producer of BCS, explains: “Durham epitomizes the post-pandemic space. There’s so much here that’s still developing. BCS reflects Durham’s diversity in music, art, science, and tech. The event spans multiple levels because Durham itself is multifaceted.”
Kickoff and Community Support
BCS will kick off on Monday, September 18, with an opening-night benefit concert at Motorco Music Hall. North Carolina soul icon Lee Fields will return home after his European tour to headline this event.
The benefit will support Durham-based Families and Communities Rising (FCR), the official non-profit partner for BCS. With a 50+ year history, FCR provides evidence-based services to improve the lives of vulnerable children, families, and communities. Throughout the summit, FCR and other local organizations will be involved in conferences, happy hours, music events, and community gatherings.

BCS events will be held at The Durham Armory and various downtown locations, including live music venues, office spaces, and public squares. Happy hours and networking opportunities will also be available at local eateries and bars.
